Deshaun Watson says Browns Would Love to Have WR DeAndre Hopkins
Adding a player like DeAndre Hopkins would solidify the Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver room as one of the best in the league. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson has made it known where he stands on the idea of adding his former teammate.
“Me and DHop, we talk (all the time). He’s been a brother of mine for a long time,” Watson said, via Zac Jackson of The Athletic. “I know there’s things swirling around and my answer to that is of course we would love to have him.”
Rumors have been swirling indeed and Watson has seen that. He did say it is out of his hands if the Browns make the move but made it clear he would love to have him in Cleveland.
Watson acknowledged that the Browns check all of the boxes for what Hopkins wants. He wants to win and to play for a good quarterback, the Browns are set up to have both of those things.
“I think any situation would be great for him. I didn’t have to (lobby) for him because everyone in the league knows what our relationship is and what the numbers (was) when we were on the field together,” said Watson.
Between the years 2017-19, Hopkins had 4,115 receiving yards with Watson throwing him the ball, to go along with a whopping 31 touchdowns.
Cleveland’s highest-paid player has made his stance known, now only time will tell if the Browns are serious about the 30-year-old Hopkins.
