VIDEO: Buccaneers Rookie Wide Receiver Scores First Career Touchdown

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Trey Palmer catches his first career touchdown.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into the Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings as underdogs and with a season of unknown ahead. Baker Mayfield took charge under center and the Tom Brady era was over.

The first few drives under Mayfield's lead were stagnant and not too promising, but he eventually connected with Mike Evans to get his first score.

As the game continued, the Buccaneers defense remained solid, giving the team a good opportunity to take a lead over the Vikings, and they did just that. After an unfortunate drop from Evans that would have been a touchdown, rookie wide receiver Trey Palmer got into the end zone for the first time of his short career.

Palmer made a name for himself both in training camp and throughout preseason, often being a promising player on the squad that needed to get younger.

LIVE UPDATES: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Despite being out gained by the Vikings, the Buccaneers 7-yard touchdown gave them a 17-10 lead. This going to show how impressive the defense has been, with timely takeaways and big stops.

It'll be important all season for Mayfield to continue being able to take advantage of defensive stops, as that side of the ball could remain stifling and firm.
