Former Buccaneers Quarterback Could Be Moving Back to the AFC
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already been active on the quarterback front following Tom Brady's retirement. The team signed veteran signal-caller Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal last week as the Buccaneers prepare for a new face under center. Mayfield will be competing for the starting job with former second-round pick Kyle Trask.

That means it's unlikely that the Buccaneers retain veteran Blaine Gabbert, who has been with the franchise for the past four seasons. Gabbert is currently a free agent and he's beginning to explore his options elsewhere.
Over the weekend, ESPN's Field Yates reported that Gabbert visited the Las Vegas Raiders. It's likely that both parties are gauging a potential fit for the 12-year pro to back up recent addition Jimmy Garoppolo.
Gabbert only threw 35 passes during his four years with the Buccaneers while backing up Tom Brady (2020-22) and Jameis Winston (2019). Regardless, his experience and presence in the locker room are still valuable assets.
The Missouri native was originally drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his first two years with the franchise, Gabbert compiled a 5-19 record while completing 372/691 passes (53.8%) for 3,876 yards with 21 touchdown passes to 15 interceptions.
Since then, he's spent the majority of his time as a backup while suiting up for the San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and the Buccaneers.

During his career, Gabbert has completed 864/1533 passes (56.4%) for 9,302 yards with 51 touchdown passes to 47 interceptions in 67 appearances, with 48 starts.
