There's a new quarterback in Tampa Bay to join Kyle Trask in the quarterback room and that's former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield. The once top prized college quarterback getting selected by the Cleveland Browns back in 2018 is now expected to compete with Trask for the starting gig and get his career back on track.

Mayfield brings a lot of things to an offense but one thing that stands out is his outgoing personality, eagerness to compete, and an attitude to block out anything that may constrict him from showing his emotions while on or off the field. He's had controversial moments during his football career in both the college side and NFL but when you keep it straight to the football field, you can tell that potential is there.

Everyone on social media and reporters from their respective outlets has given their takes on the acquisition made by the Buccaneers' front office but this time an NFC executive decided to chime in on the move made by Todd Bowles and Jason Licht.

Inside an interview with Heavy's Matt Lombardo, the executive gave promising thoughts about the future relationship between Mayfield and the Buccaneers.

“I think it’s a really good fit for Baker. Especially working with [offensive coordinator] Dave Canales. Those two are a solid match.”

Dave Canales enters his first season as the Bucs' offensive coordinator and will have a large task to take on getting Mayfield adjusted to the system set in place for the offense. Not only that, there will be an ongoing quarterback competition to evaluate and make a big decision on going into the season ahead with who ends up starting under center in 2023.
