Buccaneers Wide Receiver Mike Evans: 'I'll Take Myself Over Anybody'
Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans has had an incredible career. Having played nine seasons in the NFL, he's surpassed the 1,000 receiving yards mark each season. He's also played each of those seasons with the Buccaneers.
One of the best abilities professional athletes can have is availability. Evans has been both available and consistent over the course of his career. He's closing in on Jerry Rice's consecutive 1,000 receiving yards seasons, as he's got nine of the 11 needed.
In doing so, Evans has carved out what will likely be a hall-of-fame career and is one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL.

“I’ll take myself over anybody. If people were in my situation, there’s only five to ten guys in history who have done what I’ve done," Evans said.
Evans brought up the point that he's one of the most doubled receivers "or maybe Tae Adams.”
The receiver position holds plenty of talent in the NFL right now. There are young stars in Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. As Evans mentioned, Adams is a tough-to-cover receiver. Cooper Kupp, Stefon Diggs and A.J. Brown have both been incredible throughout their careers. Those are just a few receivers that compete with Evans in being the top receivers of the league.
Last season, Evans racked up 1,124 receiving yards and six touchdowns, his lowest mark since 2017. He's now playing with a new quarterback after Tom Brady's retirement, too.
Evans is supposed to claim to be the best at his position, and he's going to have to operate the same way in the upcoming season. By switching quarterbacks to one of Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask and still dominating, Evans can build a portfolio to prove his claims.
Situation matters incredibly when looking at how players are able to perform, and the upcoming season will be a challenge for Evans.
