Jonathan Gannon's Leadership Shines in First Interaction With Players
The Arizona Cardinals have their new head coach in Jonathan Gannon, and a few of his players were front and center at his introductory press conference on Thursday.
Notable names included DJ Humphries, James Conner, Will Hernandez, Zach Ertz, Kelvin Beachum, Rondale Moore and Kyler Murray among others in the auditorium.
Gannon spoke on how much it meant for so many players to be present for his introduction.
“It means a lot to me that the players are here and I’ve connected with a lot of these guys already. You’re going to hear me say a lot the players—just because of the seat I’m in, they have to understand and know that you care about them as people first before players," said Gannon.
"You’ll hear me say servant leadership a lot, Michael and I connected on servant leadership because we’re both Jesuit educated, but I truly believe that. That’s what we’re here to do. We had a welcome party this morning and everybody in this building, no matter what job they do for the Cardinals, whether you’re the offensive coordinator, the ticket sales manager, or the marketing director, you have a specific role to serve the players that we have for us."
After everything was wrapped up, the AZ Cardinals social media team was able to capture some footage of Gannon interacting with players for the first time:
