Cardinals Slammed in Byron Murphy's Press Conference With Vikings
The Arizona Cardinals have had far from their ideal offseason thus far.
The Cardinals have lost their top two free agents in DE Zach Allen and CB Byron Murphy after having to find a brand new front office and coaching staff. DE J.J. Watt is retiring along with OC Rodney Hudson.
Their star player in QB Kyler Murray continues to rehab from a torn ACL/meniscus, too.
Yet perhaps the most embarrassing were the results of a survey conducted by the NFLPA where players graded their respective teams on everything from treatment of families to things such as nutrition, weight room and more.
The Cardinals graded out as one of the worst teams in the league in nearly every category. They were the only team in the NFL to have four "F" grades or worse:
Treatment of families: F
Nutrition: F-
Weight Room: F-
Strength Staff: A-
Training Room: F-
Training Staff: B+
Travel: B+
Perhaps the most notable thing was Arizona charging players to eat meals at/from the facility, a very uncommon twist that does the exact opposite of flatter the Cardinals organization as a whole.
When the Minnesota Vikings signed Byron Murphy earlier this week, he was asked about the NFLPA survey and had nothing but high marks for Minnesota - whose lowest grade was an A- in any category.
"I can tell since I got here. Everything here is nice, I'm not gonna lie. Everything," Murphy told reporters.
"For me to come here and see - I would say time and effort into this building - from the players to the coaches to the people upstairs - it's just a blessing to be able to come here and see that."
When asked about not paying for meals, Murphy said, "I think it's free, so I'm good now. It's all-you-can-eat now."
Here's to hoping changes off the field are just as important as the ones on the field.
