Cardinals CB Marco Wilson Has Message for Doubters

The Arizona Cardinals lost Byron Murphy in free agency, and some aren't sold on their ability in the secondary for 2023. Marco Wilson took that personally.
In this story:

The Arizona Cardinals were set to lose some talent on the defensive side of the ball in free agency, but that's the nature of the beast when you're a 4-13 football team entering a rebuild and there's not excessive cash at hand to splurge.

Losing either DE Zach Allen or CB Byron Murphy was expected, yet when Allen got paid by the Denver Broncos and Murphy fled to the Minnesota Vikings, the Cardinals were left empty-handed.

As of now, Arizona has the following cornerbacks under contract: Marco Wilson, Christian Matthew and Nate Hairston.

Though there's still time to add free agents into the mix (along with taking somebody in the 2023 NFL Draft) Cardinals fans are fearful that their secondary will take a step down.

Wilson has a message for those people:

Unless Arizona adds a top talent this offseason, Wilson will emerge as the team's CB1. His three interceptions last year led the team and the 24-year-old only hopes to get better.

The Cardinals could also opt to bring back Antonio Hamilton or Josh Jackson, both of whom are free agents at this time.

Arizona's pass defense (No. 24 with 230.3 yards per game) allowed the worst completion percentage last season at 69.8%.
