NFL football is officially back today, as the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns kickoff the 2023 preseason with tonight's Pro Football Hall of Fame game.

Later this weekend, nine new people will enter the halls of Canton, OH into football immortality with their induction.

Though the Arizona Cardinals don't have any of their own going in, it's always fun speculating who could be next in line in the desert.

Obvious names such as Larry Fitzgerald and J.J. Watt come to mind - but what about active players?

One site believes former Cardinals DB Patrick Peterson will make his way in down the road, dubbing him one of ten active players most likely to be voted in down the line.

"Peterson already has made eight Pro Bowl teams during his NFL career and has been named to the AP All-Pro First-Team three times. Usually, a cornerback who makes the Hall of Fame will need to multiple first-team All-Pro selections to be inducted and Peterson has already checked that box," said BetPennsylvania, who evaluated Peterson's odds.

"Another thing that helps Peterson’s case for the Hall of Fame is the fact that he was named to the Hall of Fame’s All-Decade Team from the 2010s, which is usually a great sign that a player will make the Hall of Fame. With 12 years of experience under his belt, his numbers match most of the top cornerbacks in the Hall of Fame and he will continue to add to them this year with the Steelers. How he helps the Steelers playoff chances remains to be seen.

"While Peterson isn’t a lock to make the Hall of Fame, he certainly has a great chance to be inducted whenever he decides to hang up his cleats. But with the way that he played in 2022, it wouldn’t be a shock if that wasn’t for several more years. Peterson turned 33 in July, but he still has a few quality years left in the NFL before he even begins to think about Canton."

Another player who is favored to eventually sneak in is Budda Baker, who was recently tabbed by Sports Illustrated as Arizona's best bet to enter Canton upon retirement.
