Former Teammate Says Cardinals QB Kyler Murray Needs to Grow Up
We're now nearly two months removed from the 2022 NFL season. One week removed from the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, and just days away from free agency with less than 50 nights until the 2023 NFL Draft is here.
It's a busy time for the Arizona Cardinals in their attempt to correct course after a 4-13 outing last season. The Cardinals cleaned house and welcomed a new general manager and head coach to push them in the right direction.
However, most believe success in the desert will do or die on the shoulders of quarterback Kyler Murray, who has been the subject of most criticism surrounding the franchise.
Pending free agent offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum - who has protected Murray since the 2020 season - said Murray has all the talent in the world, but he won't hit the next level until he matures.
"He has all the tools man. He can throw if off one leg, he can throw it a mile. He can run faster than anybody on the field," said Beachum on Arizona Sports' 98.7 FM. When asked if Murray lacked leadership, Beachum continued:
"I didn't say he lacks the leadership, I just think he needs to grow up a little bit. I think if he has the ability and willingness to grow up, he's gonna be just fine. They paid him for a reason. They paid him because of his talent. He has the ability to lead - it's just when you're in that position, we need you to lead more."
