Cardinals, Ravens Reportedly Close on DeAndre Hopkins Deal
As time ticks closer towards the 2023 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals have been in trade business for quite some time now.
Most of that talk has surrounded the No. 3 pick, and for good reason. The Cardinals can take one of the top prospects in this class if they choose to stay or simply offload the pick to whoever the highest bidder is, collecting strong draft capital for the future.
While Arizona will surely have their hands full throughout the day, trade talks aren't limited to draft picks.
For months now, the Cardinals have sought trade partners for the talented DeAndre Hopkins, a nearly 31-year-old receiver who simply doesn't fit Arizona's plans or budget for the future.
While we've seen no strong bites on his future, 105.7 Baltimore's Reet Manfred says the Baltimore Ravens are closing in on a deal for Hopkins. The teams are reportedly still figuring out draft compensation and cap structuring.
Arizona reportedly scared teams off in negotiations with their price tag of a second-round pick and something else of value for the All-Pro receiver.
Hopkins reportedly is willing to restructure his deal upon arrival to his new team, which could also be squads in the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.
Lamar Jackson was active in Baltimore's pursuit and eventual acquisition of Odell Beckham Jr. - he also reportedly told the Ravens to acquire Hopkins before continuing contract negotiations with the team.
In 35 games for the Cardinals, Hopkins reeled in 221 passes for 2,696 yards and 17 touchdowns. He's due $19.45 million in cash this season.
