Report: Cardinals, Titans Have Discussed Draft Day Trade
PHOENIX -- The day of the 2023 NFL Draft is finally here, and the Arizona Cardinals will eventually give us answers as to what they'll do with the No. 3 overall pick.
The rebuilding Cardinals are in strong position to take an elite talent with the third pick, whether that be somebody like Will Anderson Jr., Tyree Wilson, Paris Johnson or anybody else you've seen mocked in the top ten. Nobody could blame Arizona for sticking to their pick and getting the best player available.
Yet there's a strong expectation that the Cardinals will move down, hoping to gain valuable future draft assets in 2023 and 2024. That will most likely happen with a quarterback-needy team hoping to jump other potential suitors to get their guy.
That team could very well be the Tennessee Titans.
ESPN's Dianna Russini says the Titans and Cardinals have had conversations surrounding the No. 3 pick.
"My sense is the Titans have their eyes on a quarterback, and they'll do everything they can to go get him," said Russini (h/t Dov Kleiman).
With Bryce Young heavily expected to be drafted with the No. 1 overall pick, the Houston Texans present the biggest wild card in the draft at No. 2. After long offseason discourse of which quarterback could fall to the Texans, there's now expectations of Houston passing on a quarterback to take a dynamic defensive player.
That would allow the Cardinals even more opportunity to trade down with an extra top quarterback (most likely C.J. Stroud) available.
Other teams to watch are the Indianapolis Colts (picking No. 4), Seattle Seahawks (No. 5), Detroit Lions (No. 6) and Atlanta Falcons (No. 8).
Sources have told All Cardinals that Arizona has been fully planning to trade down in the first round while the Las Vegas Raiders - picking No. 7 - are not expected to trade up.
