Cardinals QB Kyler Murray Bids Farewell to DeAndre Hopkins

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray said goodbye to DeAndre Hopkins on social media.
In this story:

DeAndre Hopkins' departure from the Arizona Cardinals is still fairly fresh, and the reactions we've seen from former teammates to fans and insiders has all been some sort of shock.

Hopkins - one of the premier pass catchers in all of football - is now free to pick his landing spot after the Cardinals. Many thought Arizona would trade him after months of speculation, but general manager Monti Ossenfort and his crew decided a split now was best for both sides.

Kyler Murray - who formed a special bond with Hopkins while also forming one of the most exciting QB-WR duos in the league - bid farewell to his No. 1 target on social media after hearing the news.

Now, Kyler will look towards a receiving corps that features players such as Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore, Greg Dortch, Zach Pascal and Michael Wilson.

As for Hopkins, it will be interesting to see where his next destination is. Hopkins will aim to land with a Super Bowl contender who can still come close to the $19.45 million in cash he was set to receive this season.

Hopkins played in 35 games for the Cardinals, catching 221 passes for 2,696 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Cardinals save roughly $9 million against the cap with his release and are completely free of his remaining money in 2024.
