Vance Joseph Potential Candidate for Eagles DC Job
The Arizona Cardinals have their next head coach in former Philadelphia Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon.
Gannon was officially hired by the team on Tuesday after speaking with owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort for two days following Philadelphia's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII.
Gannon now has some major staff decisions to make moving forward, and one of the more bigger names that could be available (Cardinals DC Vance Joseph) has been in limbo for quite some time.
Joseph was initially a candidate to take over for Kliff Kingsbury after his departure from the team but failed to get a second interview with the team.
Joseph - who signed a contract extension with the team last offseason - may not be needed with Gannon's defensive acumen now in the building.
If released from his contract (similar to Ejiro Evero in Denver this offseason), Joseph would be a candidate for the Eagles' defensive coordinator job according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Eagles are likely promoting QB coach Brian Johnson to OC after Shane Steichen accepted the open head coach position with the Indianapolis Colts. Joseph would be filling in Gannon's former spot under head coach Nick Sirianni.
There was some talk about the Cardinals potentially retaining Joseph on their staff depending on who was hired, yet it seems more likely than not at this point for Arizona and Joseph to move their separate ways.
