Kelvin Beachum Re-Signs With Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals were awfully quiet all throughout the first day of NFL free agency, though that has now ended.
The Score's Jordan Schultz is reporting the team is bringing back Kelvin Beachum on a two-year contract.
Beachum (who will be 34-years-old by next season) first entered the league as a seventh-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent four years with the Steelers before spending a year with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
The next offseason, Beachum signed with the New York Jets and played for three seasons in New York before signing with the Cardinals in 2020.
Last season, Beachum was one of the very few consistent pieces in Arizona’s starting lineup. His 1,180 snaps (97.93%) was the most out of any offensive player. He played in every game for the Cardinals last year and missed just two games since joining the organization.
Beachum recently made headlines by sharing his opinion on Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
"He has all the tools man. He can throw it off one leg, he can throw it a mile. He can run faster than anybody on the field," said Beachum on Arizona Sports' 98.7 FM. When asked if Murray lacked leadership, Beachum continued:
"I didn't say he lacks the leadership, I just think he needs to grow up a little bit. I think if he has the ability and willingness to grow up, he's gonna be just fine. They paid him for a reason. They paid him because of his talent. He has the ability to lead - it's just when you're in that position, we need you to lead more."
Beachum was one of four Cardinals starting offensive linemen scheduled to hit free agency, joining Rodney Hudson (who is expected to retire), Justin Pugh and Will Hernandez.
Though financial details haven't been made available just yet, Spotrac had his market value at $3.7 million per season.
