The status of former Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt is now solved after months of speculation in regards to his future.

Watt announced today that he will be joining CBS Sports as an in-studio host.

The New York Post initially reported the future Hall of Fame defensive player had multiple offers to join the broadcast booth.

"J.J. Watt has network NFL TV offers on the table, but the question is whether he wants to take them, The Post has learned. If Watt does take a TV job, CBS is considered the favorite for his services in what is a Super Bowl year for the network," said the Post earlier this month.

"Because Watt is not replacing anyone, it basically has created an elastic deadline — it will be decided when Watt figures out whether he is ready to go or not. Watt was listed as the No. 2 free agent on the SportsClicker NFL TV Big Board prior to the Super Bowl."

Watt - currently a partial owner of Burnley Football Club and enjoying duties as a father - fought rumors of a potential return earlier in the offseason.

Awful Announcing reported last month NBC Sports was hoping to land Watt.

"NBC is hoping to land Big Ten legend J.J. Watt. The future Hall of Famer is an obvious fit having played at Wisconsin and would likely have a significant role on Sunday Night Football as well. However, Watt is being courted by multiple networks and thus might not ultimately land at NBC," said the report.

Watt himself said on a recent episode of Pardon My Take he would like to give broadcasting a shot at some point.

"I want to be around the game. I want to be a part of it and I do feel like I have knowledge and experience that can help enhance viewers’ experience and talk about things that they might not see or things that I’ve learned over the years," said Watt.

Former teammate Colt McCoy recently made his broadcast booth debut during a recent USFL game.
