Chargers News: Bolts Set to Workout Top LB Prospect
The common belief surrounding the Los Angeles Chargers as of now is that they are looking to throw in all their cards in building the best offense in the league and whichever scraps are left over will go to defense. With the way Brandon Staley was just praising newest offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, it is easy to see why one would think that.
However, that just isn't the case. People don't realize just how important the Eric Kendricks signing is going to be. This is a man that has logged over 100 tackles for almost every season of his career. His ending with the Minnesota Vikings wasn't the prettiest but he's already stated that he's looking at this chance with LA as a new chapter.
And what if the Bolts opted to go with another option at LB, this time securing one in the upcoming draft? With limited cap space right now and different situations with their star players such as Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler, a big trade does not make sense. Therefore, the fact that the Bolts have already met with a promising young LB in Mohamoud Diabate and plan to work him out is very interesting.
"After meeting with him at the Shrine Bowl, the Chargers are now hosting Diabete."

Quartberbacks at the college level hated going up against Diabete as he made life tough for them whenever he was on the opposing side. In 2022 with the University of Utah, he ranked number six in the Pac-12 with his five sacks and also recorded 35 tackles.
Draft reports are very high on his upside and love what they've seen from him so far in his football career.
"He has some impressive reps in man coverage where he can carry routes vertically down the field and stay in phase with running backs and tight ends. Diabate is an urgent downhill run defender that mostly does well to fit the run and attack with physicality. While his block deconstruction skills have room for improvement, he is physical when taking on blocks and is a stout tackler that doesn’t easily concede yards after contact."

From what I can tell, he brings the type of fire that a team like the Bolts need right now.
