Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is entering his fourth season in the league with sky-high expectations for himself and his team.

After making his playoff debut, Herbert is looking to improve on the success of last season to put the league on notice as one of the best teams in the AFC.

Don't take it from us, but from one of Herbert's former teammates while he made a name for himself as an Oregon Duck.

Kayvon Thibodeaux had high praise and a lofty comparison for his old quarterback up in the Pacific Northwest.

While Herbert still has a long way to go to reach the career of the current Jet and former MVP for the Packers, he has established himself as one of the very best at the position in just three short seasons.

Herbert was taken sixth overall by the Chargers in the 2020 draft when many skeptics thought Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was the better prospect.

The former Duck has quickly quieted those comparisons after a three-year stretch where he's thrown for over 14,000 yards, 90 touchdowns, and already has a 5,000-yard season under his belt.

Looking to take the next steps towards winning in January, the Chargers addressed several areas of concern this offseason to aid their young quarterback in this pursuit.

In April's draft, LA took big-bodied wide receiver Quentin Johnston off his amazing run to the CFP Final with the TCU Horned Frogs. In free agency, the Chargers signed a new cog in the middle of their defense in former Viking Eric Kendricks.

The move for Johnston is already paying off, as early returns in training camp have seen him embarrass defenders and build a strong rapport with Herbert and the rest of the offense.

Fresh off a new contract extension, Herbert now has the financial security to continue lighting up the scoreboard in LA.

Should Thibodeaux's projection ring true, Chargers fans will have a Lombardi trophy to look forward to in their future.
