In this story:

It is truly crazy to think that we will look back at the 2023 NFL draft and wonder how Quentin Johnston was not a top 10 pick. All jokes aside, the speedy receiver out of TCU has made his mark on the Chargers' organization early into OTA's and is showing everybody why he was selected over the likes of Jordan Addison and Zay Flowers.

At this point, it's no secret that LA loves to welcome in WR's that have some size and strength to them... opposing front offices have even grown aware of this. Standing at 6'3 and weighing in at 208 pounds, Johnston is not too big to the point where it's hard for him to change directions on the fly but also will not get bodied by defenses.

His role within the Bolts' offense this season will solely be determined by how he takes advantage of the snaps he's in and how he contributes night in and night out. Johnston will be able to learn from some premier talents in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams while catching passes from Justin Herbert... does it really get any better for a rookie WR than that?

His reps in OTA's have been looking smooth and seeing that he has chemistry with other rookies that are coming in from TCU as well, this was a no-brainer pick.

Exceptional First Impression

We already received word that Allen is looking forward to overseeing part of Johnston's development and is most excited to see how his physical traits carry him to greatness.

However, it appears that one of the Chargers' most prominent defensive studs also has loved what he's seen from the 21-year-old on tape and on the field so far. This was none other than safety Derwin James, somebody who holds an opinion that most trust.

S Derwin James was asked which rookie has stood out to him, he said WR Quentin Johnston, “he’s that guy.” He pointed to the rookies work ethic and ability on the field.

We love to see this group connecting and praising each other already... let's see how the rest of OTA's go.
