Chargers News: With Mike Williams Out, Other Receivers Ready For Their Close-Up

LA is going to need the others to really step up going forward...

After the news came out that Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams tore his ACL, it felt like a gut punch to the team. Williams had finally broken out as the team's potential number-one receiver, and he was ready to help them overcome the hump this year.

But just four games in to their 2023 season, his year is now done. Unfortunately for the Bolts, they will now rely on others to step up in his absence, but luckily, they already have some talent on the roster.

Alongside Keenan Allen, the Bolts have guys like Joshua Palmer and rookie Quentin Johnson available to help out. Both players can provide production, but this is another chance to show what they can do with Williams out.

“It's another chance to go out and show them again that they can trust and believe in me,” Palmer said Wednesday as the Chargers prepared for Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Losing his guy in Williams is tough for quarterback Justin Herbert, but he knows he can rely on others to do their job. His faith in his receivers allows for good offensive flow and should give the Bolts something to work with going forward.

“I think you just have to rely on the guys behind him to step up and do their job. [Thankfully], we’ve got a ton of reps with them so far," quarterback Justin Herbert said. “I’m looking forward to seeing those guys compete.”

Nobody will be Williams, and they don't have to be. They need to show up and show out in the best way possible. The Chargers need help with Williams out for the season, but they believe in the guys they have and will likely live or die with them going forward.
