Chargers News: Keenan Allen Keeps Writing History with Every Catch

The star is one of the league's most underrated receivers.
In this story:

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen has been a reliable pass catcher for the Bolts since they drafted him in the third round in 2013.

Allen has provided a great return on investment over the last decade, and he's been a volume receiver for the Chargers with Philip Rivers and quarterback Justin Herbert in recent years.

The veteran showcased that on Sunday when he reeled in 18 receptions for 215 yards in the Chargers' 28-24 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

A standout performance? Certainly?

But that doesn't mean Allen's not used to those games.

According to Pro Football Focus, Allen's compiled 14 games with 11 receptions over his career, good for the most in NFL history.

He showed how big of an impact he can make in this past weekend's win, almost singlehandedly willing the Chargers offense to a victory with a career-high in catches.

It was a win the Bolts needed desperately after dropping their first two games to begin a highly anticipated 2023 season. While the victory didn't solve all of their issues -- they saw a double-digit second-half lead evaporate and nearly lost the game due to a rather questionable play call -- it helped them stem the tide ahead of another crucial game against the Las Vegas Raiders this week.

They'll need Allen to continue to step up after fellow receiver Mike Williams was ruled out for the season with a torn ACL. Still, given what he did last weekend and what he's done throughout his career, Allen should keep providing a significant impact in Williams' absence.
