Canadian Billionaire Interested in Buying Dan Snyder's Commanders?
The Washington Commanders could have another person interested in buying the franchise.
According to ESPN, Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos has toured the Commanders facility as he looks into buying the franchise.
"Steve Apostolopoulos is the Managing Partner of Triple Group of Companies (TGC), a Toronto-based full service real estate firm specializing in the purchase, leasing, development and management of commercial space," his bio on rewealth-canada.com says. "He is also the Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer of Triple Properties, a privately-owned enterprise engaged in real estate investment, development, asset management and leasing.
"Mr. Steve Apostolopoulos is the founder of Six Ventures Inc., a private equity venture fund. An entrepreneur by nature, Mr. Apostolopoulos contributes to a wide variety of philanthropic organizations with his family."
His connection to the NFL comes with his father Andreas, who passed away in February 2021. Andreas owned the Pontiac Silverdome, where the Detroit Lions played from 1975-2001.
Apostolopoulos is the fourth known person interested in buying the Commanders. The others are Houston Rockets governor Tilman Fertitta, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris, who is working with billionaire Mitchell Rales and Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson to form a bid for Dan Snyder to purchase the franchise.
Snyder has reportedly targeted the league's owner meetings at the end of the month as a date where the sale could come to a vote.
