DAN SNYDER HAS LEFT THE BUILDING; Washington Commanders Sale to New Owners 'Imminent'?

"Per multiple sources, Dan and Tanya Snyder have cleared out of the team’s facility in advance of the sale of the team,'' writes PFT. What does this mean about the sale of the Commanders?
In this story:

The Washington Commanders, under siege in so many ways during the 24-year ownership reign of Dan Snyder, may be on the verge of being sold to new bosses.

What is the sign of that, according to one report?

The Snyders Have Left The Building.

As a matter of technical fact, ProFootballTalk writes on Thursday night that "per multiple sources, Dan and Tanya Snyder have cleared out of the team’s facility in advance of the sale of the team.''

As headline-grabbing as that seemingly is, PFT follows up with a bit of a tamp-down, adding, "As one source explained it, they left in late December.''

Oh. Does that make all of this slightly less earth-shattering? Yes, except for two things:

One, the Snyders sort of skulking off into the night without making an announcement, frankly, fits snugly into everything we know about the way this franchise has been overseen.

Indeed, we are told that "once the Commanders were eliminated from the playoffs, they sort of disappeared.''

Additionally, we know that for the final home game, in the executive parking area in the garage, coach Ron Rivera's car was there.

And it was pretty much by itself.

PFT does take this information to make a conclusion, fortified by information from a source, writing, "We’re also told that, within the building, the word being used regarding a potential sale is 'imminent.'

There is some schedule-related sense to such a thing happening in the coming days as it would be handy for the March 27-29 owners meetings in Arizona to be the site and scene of an announcement of the new franchise leadership.

The Snyders announced in November that they were considering selling all or some of the franchise, triggering a start-and-stop series of activities that became controversial in their own ways, including Snyder's alleged unwillingness to sell to Amazon's Jeff Bezos due to a personal grudge.

Josh Harris and Mitchell Rales are involved in a group that might end up buying the franchise. And Snyder is still involved in investigations about his behavior, financial and otherwise.

The word "discreet'' has been used to describe the Snyder actions, and that is awfully polite, given that being "discreet'' has hardly been a hallmark of this regime.

But whether it's sneaking out or leaving while kicking and screaming ... the Snyders have left the building.
