Chiefs Join Commanders in Unique Stat After Super Bowl Win

The Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs were the only two teams to accomplish a rare feat this season.
In this story:

After winning Super Bowl LVII, the Kansas City Chiefs did something only one team could do all season long ... beat Jalen Hurts.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback went 16-1 in games where he started this season going into the Super Bowl, with his only regular season loss coming against the Washington Commanders.

Back in Week 10 on Monday Night Football, the Eagles took their first loss of the season against the Commanders, who were led by Taylor Heinicke.

In the Commanders 32-21 win, Heinicke threw for 211 yards and an interception. While Heinicke didn't blow away anyone with his play, the Commanders run game took control. Washington ran for 152 yards on the ground and held the ball for over 40 minutes of action.

The Eagles tried to play the possession game in the Super Bowl, holding the ball for over 35 minutes, but they were beat by MVP Patrick Mahomes in a heartbreaking 38-35 defeat.

Hurts played well, throwing for over 300 yards and rushing for a Super Bowl record three touchdowns as a quarterback, but a costly fumble in the first half came back to haunt the Eagles and was a big factor in the game.

The Eagles were one of the best teams in the NFL this season with Hurts under center, but the Chiefs and Commanders can say they got the better of them at full strength.
