Commanders Come Back vs. Bengals, Complete Undefeated Preseason

The Cincinnati Bengals held a halftime lead, but the Washington Commanders overcame it to beat them at home in the preseason finale.

The Washington Commanders (3-0) are going into the season with an unblemished preseason record after a 21-19 win against the Cincinnati Bengals (0-2-1) at FedEx Field.

The Commanders started the game off on the wrong side of the scoreboard, giving up a touchdown after quarterback Jake Browning led a 10-play, 61-yard drive that ended in a 7-yard score to Andrei Iosivas.

Washington responded with a touchdown of its own with Jacoby Brissett under center.

Brissett ran the play action and evades a pair of Bengals pass rushers to find undrafted free agent Mitchell Tinsley downfield, who broke a tackle on his way to the end zone.

Tinsley, who led Washington with three catches for 89 yards, also had another big catch on the team's next touchdown drive. Tinsley caught a pass that was originally ruled a touchdown before being ruled down on the 1-yard line. On the next play, Jake Fromm found Brycen Tremayne for the touchdown.

Washington never relinquished the lead from there as the backend of the roster made a strong case to stay with the team. However, cuts are coming as the roster must dwindle to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The Commanders head into the regular season in two weeks' time as they host the Arizona Cardinals at FedEx Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10.
