Commanders' Legal Issues Resolved, Dan Snyder Sale to Finalize This Week

Dan Snyder is expected to officially sell the Washington Commanders to Josh Harris on Thursday.

The Washington Commanders are one step closer to being sold.

The NFL owners are slated to meet on Thursday to vote (and likely approve) Dan Snyder selling the Commanders to Josh Harris and his ownership group, but a potential eleventh-hour snag was set to break the deal.

Snyder's legal troubles entangled with Jon Gruden were threatening to delay the sale that has been dragged along already for months.

ESPN is reporting that had it not been for Snyder leaking Gruden's emails, he may not have been so pressured to sell the franchise.

"He was free and clear that October -- he just had to wait out his suspension and let everything blow over," a source close to Snyder told ESPN. "A major miscalculation. Without the leaks, he might just have survived."

However, the Washington Post is reporting that those snafus have been resolved and that the league is set to move forward with voting on the potential sale.

Harris met with the NFL last month to discuss the league's concerns about financing the sale, which is set to be for a record-setting $6.05 billion. However, Harris eased the league's concerns and found a solution to move forward.

For a multi-billion dollar transaction, there are bound to be a few bumps in the road. This has been no exception, but now Commanders fans can feel a little bit better about the sale finally going through later this week.
