The potential sale of the Washington Commanders appears to be near its completion.

CBS Sports reports that NFL Owners have been notified of two dates to vote and make the sale official, July 20 and Aug. 8. If head coach Ron Rivera were to have his way, the sale would take place before training camp begins on July 25.

“I think it'll help a lot," Rivera said. "I mean, there's still some things that we've gotta be able to move on from and have decided on. That's just the biggest part of, it, just being able to get all those other little details taken care of that we need to have taken care of. That's a big part of it for us.”

There has been no shortage of storylines surrounding Washington this offseason, and the franchise being sold has been at the forefront. Josh Harris and his group have agreed to buy the Commanders from Dan Snyder on May 12 for $6.05 billion.

Harris will need at least 24 votes for the sale to be approved. If Harris were to get the required votes, it would be the most expensive in North American sports.

The distractions surrounding the organization because of Snyder have been present since Rivera first became the head coach in 2020. With a make-or-break year on the horizon, the Commanders' sale potentially being approved on July 20 or Aug. 8 would take a much-needed weight off Rivera's shoulders and allow him to focus on the team once the season begins.
