‘Bored’ Jalen Ramsey: A 1-on-1 Surprise for CeeDee Lamb?

‘Bored’ Jalen Ramsey: A 1-on-1 Surprise for Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb?

FRISCO - The suggestion from inside the Miami Dolphins locker room this week is that Jalen Ramsey might be “bored” - and maybe a little bothered by a Sunday strategy that might not be completely tailored to his liking.

"I don't think that's the game plan. I don't think that's my role in this defense," said Ramsey when asked about the idea that he might shadow CeeDee Lamb in 1-on-1 coverage in this Week 16 visit from the Dallas Cowboys.

And how does the Dolphins veteran star feel about that?

"Ya'll know who I am. What's up?" Ramsey said. “ Had Can you help me 123 and jump shop? Nice job that’s gonna be wet up You know what I've done throughout my whole career. You know who I am."

Ramsey's identity is that of one of the best corners of his generation, with a reputation for man-on-man excellence.

Last week, he did play that role because of injuries elsewhere in the Miami defense, and in a 30-0 win over the Jets he guarded Garrett Wilson and limited him to three catches for 29 yards.

'Hit In The Mouth!' CeeDee Lamb Tells Cowboys Truth

For the year, Ramsey has allowed only 11 receptions while having been targeted 27 this season.

Would that translate to controlling Lamb, Dak Prescott's top target who this year is second in the NFL in catches with 103 and third in receiving yards with 1,306 with eight receiving touchdowns?

Ramsey obviously thinks so.

But Miami's defense under coordinator Vic Fangio ranks fifth in the NFL by playing mostly zone. And the other corner, Xavien Howard, is elite as well.

But Fangio, barring a surprise, seems set - whether Ramsey likes it or not.

"Two really good players, Fangio said of Lamb and Ramsey. "CeeDee Lamb is one of the top receivers in the league. Jalen is on the top corners in the league. And it'll be interesting to watch. I wish I had a popcorn and sitting home and watching it."

And Jalen Ramsey wishes to be allowed to "watch'' Lamb.
