What does Cowboys Nation get for the Dallas billionaire who has everything? More touchdowns instead of field goals is what Jerry Jones desires for himself and his undefeated team.

FRISCO - What do you get for the billionaire who has everything? "More red zone touchdowns,'' apparently.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is obviously elated with his team's 2-0 start to the 2023 NFL season. His team has outscored its two foes by a combined score of 70-10, which includes the Cowboys being able to put up 30 points in Sunday's 30-10 win over the New York Jets (and their stout defense) in Week 2.

But ... "I don't think we're satisfied at all with what we did in the red zone,'' Jones said this week. "If you want to look at anything about the game Sunday, that's where we need to get better.''

Now, note that this conversation occurred on Tuesday - the day before the awful Trevon Diggs' season-ending knee injury happened at practice here at The Star. So Jerry would surely want a mulligan on his wish, changing it to "injury-free.'' But outside of that ...

Jones, in fairness, was skillfully led into that answer in his radio visit with "Shan and RJ'' on 105.3 The Fan. But sure ... if the Cowboys are looking for some level of perfection beyond 2-0? Hey, coordinator Dan Quinn said his defensive players are "pissed off'' at having allowed even one TD to the Jets ...

And yes. While Dallas scored on all six of its red zone opportunities in the win, only two of those possessions nearing the goal line resulted in touchdowns.

Of course, it does not require a wildly positive spin to note that coming into this season, the Dallas kicking situation was wobbly, and the decision to go with former soccer star and rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey was all about "wait-and-see.'' And the Cowboys got to see, as the McKinney native nailed all four of his closer-in field goals to go along with his 55-yard field goal.

Our general view on this, when it comes to attempts at criticism of a team that has dominated its opponents is that the critics are the types who would gripe about the mole on Cindy Crawford's cheek. OK, we're dating ourselves here, but Cowboys Nation gets the point, right?)

Indeed, Despite the offense's failures to cash in for TDs on every ... single ... possession ... the billionaire Jones does not mean to come off as greedy.

"On the other hand,'' he added, "to be able to step back and put those kind of points up there kicking field goals. ... Man alive! ...  But we can't be satisfied with being in short-yardage situations there ... and not come away with touchdowns. That really is the one thing in our meetings that we had that was really emphasized, that we got to get in there and get scores."
