Cowboys 'Juice!' Brandin Cooks 1st Pro Bowl Prediction in Dak Offense?
New Dallas Cowboys receiver Brandin Cooks has been in the NFL for nine years and, during that time, has been a constant source of production for any offense he has found himself on.
Cooks went through a purple patch in his career that saw him surpass 1,000+ receiving yards in four consecutive seasons, and for some, the thought of Cooks being a Pro Bowler is a no-brainer, but that accolade has yet to be forthcoming to the veteran.
Now, as a member of the Cowboys' much-talked about offense, will this season be the one that sees Cooks earn his first Pro Bowl selection? NFL.com thinks so.
"Despite surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in six of his nine NFL seasons, Cooks surprisingly has been shut out of the Pro Bowl," NFL.com writes. "Joining the high-profile Cowboys could help end that streak. Cooks' deep-ball ability should fit well in Dallas' offense, where he can take the top off the defense as opponents focus on slowing CeeDee Lamb. The NFC WR group is stacked, but Cooks still brings juice and should have enough big-play opportunities to have a chance to earn his first Pro Bowl selection at 30 years old."
In Cooks' last two seasons with the Houston Texans, he has been a beacon of production for an offense that has ranked 30th for points scored in both years (17.0/ppg in 2022 and 16.5/ppg in 2021).
With Davis Mills as his primary quarterback in 2021, Cooks totaled 1,037 yards and six touchdowns, which more than doubled the next best (Nico Collins 446 yards, Danny Amendola and Brevin Jordan three touchdowns).
Last season, Cooks played 13 games and finished with 699 yards (the next best being Chris Moore's 548).
So, with what some would call one of the worst offenses in the league in back-to-back years, Cooks has shown his talents.
Now, with other weapons in CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup to help shift defenses around along with Tony Pollard out of the backfield, Cooks could be about to see some very favorable coverages this season.
With coach Mike McCarthy's "Texas Coast Offense" aimed at making things easier for Dak Prescott with short, crisp throws, Cooks could see his fair share of targets, and if he does, the receiving yards will no doubt follow.
As the Cowboys are thought to be a genuine Super Bowl contender, if Cooks can have another 1,000+ yard season, then it might only be a matter of time before he earns his first Pro Bowl nod.
