Cowboys BREAKING: Micah Parsons To Start New Video Podcast
Dallas Cowboys fans have likely wondered what Micah Parsons can't do over his two years with a starred helmet.
Parsons is set to remove another skill from that shortlist.
A discussion with People Magazine revealed that the star pass rusher will host a video podcast entitled "The Edge with Micah Parsons." The new show is said to "take fans behind the scenes throughout the upcoming NFL season" and Parsons himself revealed that it will "get into everything."
Parsons is the latest athlete to join Bleacher Report's athlete-hosted podcast network, a group whose new arrivals also include Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts. The linebacker also said that the Cowboys representation on his program won't be limited to himself.
"I'm going to have a couple of teammates. I'm going to mix it up," Parsons told People's Natasha Dye. I'm going to have different people come on and try to make it as live and fun as possible."
Parsons was mostly coy when asked who could show up among the guest stars but singled out the "hilarious" Trevon Diggs.
Though Parsons has made a living attacking quarterbacks in his first two NFL seasons, he credited a select group of throwers for inspiring him to get into the media game, hinting that he was inspired by the Netflix series "Quarterback." The co-production with NFL Films and Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions was one of the most talked-about sports programs over the summer and Parsons was intrigued by the open look into the passing lives of the docuseries' subjects Kirk Cousins and Patrick Mahomes.
"Life is just so important outside of football, and I just thought I learned so much from guys like Pat and Kirk," Parsons says. "You share your knowledge and tools on why you're successful in the league, and I think storytelling is important, and to see them guys' success and things they go through in the season, it really makes you open your eyes a lot."
While many quarterbacks, including Dallas' own Dak Prescott, have been reluctant to accept Netflix's invitation for a second season, Parsons would jump at the opportunity to appear in a linebacker-based spin-off.
"I would definitely participate, just because football is important," Parsons said. "That's the reason why I'm doing The Edge."
The podcast could Parsons' first foray into sports media, his first step in a right of passage for seemingly countless Cowboys stars: Dallas' games are set to be narrated by several familiar faces, as ex-quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Tony Romo will reprise their duties as the lead game day analysts for ESPN and CBS respectively. Aikman's fullback, Daryl Johnston, is likewise set to return to Fox Sports.
Parsons won't get a chance to thank Cousins or Mahomes on the field this season, as neither Minnesota or Kanas City is on Dallas' 2023 docket. Instead, they'll open the 2023 campaign on Sunday night on the road against the New York Giants (7:20 p.m. ET, NBC).
