Cowboys CB Stephon Gilmore Better Than Trevon Diggs - CBS Sports

The Dallas Cowboys have two of the best corners in the league, and CBS Sports Pete Prisco has Gilmore slotted above Trevon Diggs.

For the Dallas Cowboys, much has been made this offseason about a secondary unit that features stars like Stephon Gilmore and Trevon Diggs. Even Dak Prescott has mentioned how the two have tested him in practice.

What hasn't gotten much attention is the idea of Gilmore being the better corner compared to Diggs. ... until now. CBS Sports Pete Prisco released his top 100 NFL players, and guess who did and didn't make the cut?

"He played one season with the Colts in 2022 and did a nice job in coverage for their defense. He might not be the same player he was earlier in his career, but the Cowboys traded for him for a reason. He's still quite good," Prisco wrote of Gilmore, his No. 75 player on the list.

Diggs, notably, was not included. Patrick Peterson, Darius Slay, Tariq Woolen, Jaire Alexander and other cornerbacks were listed, but no Diggs.

The 24-year-old from Alabama led the league in interceptions, interception return yardage and touchdowns in 2021 on his way to earning All-Pro honors. He has 17 picks in three seasons as well as 49 pass deflections.

The 32-year-old Gilmore, on the other hand, hasn't had more than six interceptions in his 11-year career. Moreover, he has four combined interceptions in the last three seasons, along with no touchdowns and 15 pass deflections.

Both of these Cowboys corners are elite, but you do the math on this one. Diggs was snubbed from a list that honored a teammate who hasn't put up similar numbers yet in his lengthy career.
