Dallas Cowboys 'Texas Coast Offense' vs. Eagles Prediction: Dak & Hurts MVP TD Explosion!
ARLINGTON - The respective defensive coordinators aren't going to like this very much, but we are willing to predict that "Sunday Night Football'' between the visiting Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys here at AT&T Stadium is going to be about offensive fireworks. ...
And maybe the team that has the ball last ... and scores with it. As we put together our final prediction ...
Consider first the Eagles offense ...
The Eagles don't run well in recent weeks when QB Jalen Hurts is the ball-carrier ... but, somehow, Hurts produced against the Cowboys in their Week 9 date, having produced a 28-23 Philly win that really set into motion the high likelihood that no matter what happens tonight, the Eagles still figure to repeat as NFC East champs.
And if Hurts' balky knee slows him as a runner? Yes, the Niners' Nick Bosa is talking about how Dallas should borrow the San Francisco "blueprint'' to stop Philly ... But the Eagles can also look at how the Dallas defense couldn't quite handle QB Geno Smith last week in what became a too-tight and high-scoring win over the visiting Seahawks.
Bosa's 'Blueprint': Eagles-Beating Plan for Cowboys? 'Watch The Tape!'
Meanwhile, tight end Dallas Goedert returns from his broken arm, beefing up Hurts' weaponry. ... against a Cowboys defense that will be featuring a possibly-ailing Micah Parsons, who came down with a Sunday morning illness that he will attempt to play through.
Cowboys BREAKING: Micah Parsons Moves To Injury Report with Illness Before Eagles Game
This will be A.J. Brown's fourth meeting with Dallas. How's he done in the first three? With stat lines of 7/66/1, 5/67/1, and 6/103/0.
But surely, if he goes off, at least DeVonta Smith gets controlled by coordinator Dan Quinn's D, right? Wrong. Smith's receiving lines in those same three games are 3/51/1, 8/113/2, and 5/44/1.
Oh-oh.
But now to the Eagles defensive concerns with Dallas ... The flip side. ...
Dak Prescott will be quickly surveying an Eagles defense that, like Dallas', is loaded with talent but ... concedes big games to big guys. Brock Purdy, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes), Dak himself and Sam Howell have over the last five games racked up big numbers against a slowish Philly secondary and a poor group of linebackers.
Wanna be the MVP? What a great time for Dak and the "Texas Coast Offense'' to show off, mostly with the passing attack. Yes, last week, 49ers running backs zipped by Philly for 146 total yards and a touchdown.
'We're Both Conquerors!' Dak and Lamb Reveal 'Secret' of Cowboys Success
But we think this game is much more about "The Conqueror'' CeeDee Lamb. Against the Philly secondary in Week 9, he was good for 11 catches and 191 yards. Over his last seven appearances Lamb is averaging a stat line of 9/118/1 on 12.3 targets per game.
Lots of Lamb, complemented by some Jake Ferguson (7/91/1 in the last meeting, and Dak should be able to move the ball through the air.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Eagles Preview: Final Injury Update, Dak vs. Hurts MVP Race
Meanwhile, as you know, at home this season, the Cowboys have posted scoring totals of 41, 45, 49, 43, 38, and 30. And in their last five games against Philly at AT&T Stadium, Dallas is 5-0 and outscores the Eagles by an average score of about 40-20.
And of course, the Cowboys have that handsome NFL-best 14-game winning streak at AT&T Stadium. ... among the many reasons they're favored by 3.5 points.
Add it all up and the Fish Score Prediction is .... Cowboys 31, Eagles 27.
