Cowboys vs. Giants Preview: Dak Prescott Chasing Brady & Mahomes, Dallas Streaking At Home
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys return to AT&T Stadium to host the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon. ... with some records being chased.
If the Cowboys win the Week 10 NFC East showdown, Dallas will add to an 11-game home winning streak that dates back to 2022, the longest active streak NFL. Also impressive, Dallas has won 12 of the last 13 games vs. the Giants, including five straight.
Most recently, Dallas beat the Giants, 40-0, in Week 1 at Met Life Stadium.
The Giants are coming off a 30-6 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in which the score wasn't the worst news. New York lost quarterback Daniel Jones (ACL) for the remainder of the 2023 season, as confirmed Monday by head coach Brian Daboll.
Cowboys star Micah Parsons and the defense look to get after either Tommy Devito or Matt Barkley at quarterback. Devito finished Sunday’s game in Vegas, going 15-for-20 passing for 175 yards and an interception. Devito, who is 25-years-old, was undrafted out of Syracuse this spring.
The Cowboys are looking to bounce back after falling to the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-23. In a game of literal inches, Dallas failed to score with 46 seconds left to complete the comeback.
The scrutinized "Texas Coast Offense" hopes to keep the positive momentum, however. In week 9, quarterback Dak Prescott completed 29-of-44 passes for a season-high 374 yards and three touchdowns. Receiver CeeDee Lamb caught 11 passes for a career-best 191 yards. Lamb’s 191 receiving yards were the most by any Cowboy since Amari Cooper in 2019 against Green Bay.
Lamb leads the NFL with 19 receptions of 20-plus yards in 2023. He's secured nine of those big plays in the last two games.
History shows that Prescott excels vs. division rivals. The Cowboys quarterback is 28-8 all-time against division foes, the third-most division wins among quarterbacks since 2016 behind Tom Brady (31) and Patrick Mahomes (29).
If the Cowboys win on Sunday, Coach Mike McCarthy will tie Mike Holmgren (161 wins) for 18th on the all-time wins list among NFL head coaches.
HEATING UP: Jake Ferguson is catching fire. In Week 9, Ferguson tied a career-high in receptions (seven) while gaining a career-best 91 receiving yards and scoring a touchdown, his third touchdown in 2023.
RECORDS: Dallas Cowboys (5-3) New York Giants (2-7)

THE FINAL WORD: Coach Mike McCarthy Brandin Cooks' limited role:
“I don’t play fantasy football,” McCarthy said. “We have game plans … our system is built on making the quarterback successful. That’s the way this passing game is taught. It’s the way I’ve learned it. It’s the way it has always been the last 30 years.”
