Dallas Rookie Luke Schoonmaker Predicts 'Bounce-Back' by Dak Prescott-Led Cowboys

After the bye week, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has in many ways been "cut loose" as the "Texas Coast Offense'' has finally shown signs of life in terms of consistent explosiveness.

In the first five games of the season, the offense with Prescott, despite some efficiency, didn't exactly dazzle. But post-bye, coach Mike McCarthy's offense has offered some differences that have been eye-popping as Prescott has looked like a far better version of himself.

Against the Philadelphia Eagles in the 28-23 loss, Prescott threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns in what was one of the better games of his career, and young tight end Luke Schoonmaker, who had a touchdown catch ruled out, had nothing but positive words for how his quarterback played and insisted that the team will bounce back.

“He's just so reliable, and what a leader,” Schoonmaker said of Prescott. “The confidence is just through the roof, I think, with everybody - we'll bounce back.”

Heading into the Eagles game, it was viewed as another test that the Cowboys had to pass.

In a game in which Dallas did almost everything it needed to, but came up agonizingly short, Schoonmaker lifted the lid on what the build-up was like during the week.

“We had a great week of preparation, and we knew what this game meant to us - and we just fell short this time," Schoonmaker said. "Get back on the horse and focus on the next week, but ... I have no doubt that that we'll see them down the road again.”

The 5-3 Cowboys are now 0-2 in "measuring-stick" games and they won't get a chance to rectify the Philly part of that until Week 14 when the Eagles come to AT&T Stadium, so the narrative around what Dallas is or could become won't change.

Until then, Dallas must "run its own race" and take care of business in the next three weeks against the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, and the Washington Commanders - three inviting spots for more consistency, more explosiveness of plenty of "bounce-back.''
