Trevon Diggs ‘Announces’ Trash Talk in Cowboys Win
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - This summer at training camp, the world learned what the Dallas Cowboys have long known: Trevon Diggs is a loud, clever and nasty trash-talker.
And no, his infamous Oxnard exchange with teammate Dak Prescott is not the start or the end to it.
‘I have an announcement to make to the Giants!” Diggs hooted on the Sunday night sideline during Dallas’ 40-0 slaying in New York. “Do not throw the ball any more!'”
Per NBC’s report on the matter, this was Diggs’ speech to his teammates as he gathered them around after the Cowboys had constructed for themselves a 26-0 first-half lead … in part powered by his direct involvement in a Dallas defensive score.
Diggs delivered a big hit on Saquon Barkley, popping the ball loose so a pick-six TD could be recorded by teammate DaRon Bland. That followed a field goal being blocked for another TD and preceded Dallas’ other standout corner, Stephon Gilmore, notching an interception on the Giants’ first pass following a Cowboys field goal.
Diggs grabbed one of the important balls, by the way, and found little son Aaiden in the Metlife Stadium audience, presenting the gift to him.
The scoring by the defensive players helps fuel more bragging in the Cowboys locker room, keyed by Micah Parsons, who proclaimed Dallas to be “the best defense in the National Football League” while predicting Super Bowl success.
There is no question that the Cowboys can talk the talk. Now they move to a home game in Week 2 against the New York Jets, who are also 1-0 but are without Aaron Rodgers, who on Monday was injured and is out for the year. … with Trevon Diggs surely planning to again walk the walk.
