Eagles WR A.J. Brown Wants Cowboys CeeDee Lamb Comparisons to Stop: 'It's Not the Same!'
As the top wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, A.J. Brown has recently found himself the subject of comparisons to Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb, who holds a similar star-studded role on his team. The intensity of the rivalry between the Eagles and the Cowboys only adds fuel to the fire of such comparisons, making them all the more inevitable.
However, Brown is displeased with recent comparisons, having taken to social media to voice his opinion as he wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.
"Respectfully stop comparing me to CeeDee he plays slot and I play outside and inside," Brown wrote. "Compare him to Cooper Kupp or guys like that. It's not the same."
Brown was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Eagles during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and emerged as one of the league's best receivers last season. Brown caught 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 25-year-old was vital in helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII, where the team lost 38-35 to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Lamb also had a prolific 2022 season, as the 24-year-old hauled in 107 passes for 1,359 yards and caught nine touchdowns.
It's worth noting that the two players have distinctly different play styles. Brown operates outside, using his speed to stretch the field as the go-to deep threat for Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts. In contrast, according to Pro Football Focus, Lamb's strength lies in his ability to perform as a slot receiver, having led all receivers with 867 receiving yards from the slot.
Given the immense talent that both Brown and Lamb possess, it is highly likely that the debate over which of these two receivers is better will continue to rage on among the passionate fanbases of the Eagles and Cowboys for the entirety of their careers.
