Philadelphia Eagles’ A.J. Brown Continues All-Pro Quest in Win Over Miami Dolphins

Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown continued what's been a dominant season Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins.
In this story:

Despite catching 88 passes for 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season with the Philadelphia Eagles, receiver A.J. Brown had to settle for a Second-Team All-Pro selection, with Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings and Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders taking the three spots on the First Team.

Increasingly, though, it doesn't feel like Brown will have to settle in his second campaign with the Eagles.

In a 31-17 win over the Dolphins on Sunday Night Football, Brown caught 10 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown, finishing a yard shy of a second receiving score. Granted, the Dolphins were without their top two projected cornerbacks, Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey. But on a field with three other elite receivers -- the aforementioned Hill, Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith -- it was Brown who was the most productive wideout Sunday evening.

A slow start and Week 2 sideline disagreement with quarterback Jalen Hurts feel like a distant memory now. Sunday was Brown's fifth consecutive game with at least 125 receiving yards, joining Pat Studstill and Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson as the only players in NFL history to accomplish said feat

Through seven weeks, Brown now has 809 receiving yards, second only to Hill, who leads the NFL with 902 receiving yards. For as impressive as Puka Nakua of the Los Angeles Rams, Stefon Diggs of the Buffalo Bills and D.J. Moore of the Chicago Bears have been, Brown currently tops them in receiving yards.

Hill -- who seems to have a legitimate shot of accomplishing his preseason goal of 2,000 receiving yards -- is going to be a First-Team All-Pro for the fifth time in his career, barring injury. But Jefferson is currently on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, and former Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp missed the first four games of 2023 with a hamstring injury of his own.

There are two spots up for grabs to join Hill, and Brown currently looks on pace to be the first All-Pro selection at receiver for the Eagles since Hall of Famer Terrell Owens in 2004.
