Eagles Cap Space: How Much Can Philly Spend on Roster?
With most major free agents signed and the NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, a majority of the heavy lifting that general manager Howie Roseman and head coach Nick Sirianni had to do for the Philadelphia Eagles from a personnel sense this offseason is completed.
So how much do the Eagles still have available to spend? According to Over The Cap, the Eagles currently have $14.9 million in cap space. That's the 10th most among NFL teams, and more than each NFC East rival -- the Dallas Cowboys ($12.2 million), New York Giants ($5.7 million) and Washington Commanders ($2.4 million) -- has at their disposal.
Right tackle Lane Johnson ($14.7 million), cornerback Darius Slay ($11.9 million), center Jason Kelce ($10.7 million) and defensive end Brandon Graham ($10.1 million) are currently slated to carry the highest cap numbers for the Eagles in 2023.
Despite agreeing to a new five-year, $255 million deal that guarantees him over $179 million, quarterback Jalen Hurts will have just a $6.2 million cap number in 2023.
The Eagles are slated to have just over $30 million in cap space at their disposal next offseason, which is only 22nd in the league. However, even before he received near-universal acclaim for his personnel decisions, Roseman was known as one of the best manipulators of the salary cap in the NFL.
You can bet that the Eagles will be able to create extra cap space if needed after the 2023 season.
