Eagles LG Landon Dickerson Named Potential Breakout Star: 'One of the Best!'
Although Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson had a remarkable year with the team, he fell short of reaching stardom in 2022. However, his chances of getting closer to that status could improve this season.
On Wednesday, CBS Sports named Dickerson one of the NFC's 16 potential breakout stars for the upcoming season, citing his remarkable campaign last year.
"Selected to a Pro Bowl in 2022, Dickerson allowed just one sack and 17 pressures at left guard," CBS Sports writes. "He allowed just four quarterback hits and a 2.9% pressure rate. A huge Year 3 could be in store for Dickerson, who already is one of the best offensive linemen on arguably the best offensive line in the game."
Dickerson was initially drafted as the 37th overall pick in 2021 to become the successor to center Jason Kelce. However, with Kelce delaying retirement, Dickerson was shifted to left guard and had a phenomenal 2022 season. He proved that his future should be at left guard rather than center.
In his first full season as a starter, Dickerson was part of an offensive line that produced the league's top rushing offense, averaging 159.7 yards per game. The line also contributed to the team generating the most explosive plays in the league, totaling 163. Additionally, the Eagles set a single-season franchise record in rushing yards with 2,715 yards on the ground.
The Eagles will need Dickerson to replicate his performance from last season if the team hopes to return to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year.
