Eagles' Jason Kelce Refused To Give Mummers Jacket From Super Bowl Parade to HOF
Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce may one day have a bust in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But for now, he says he's made the decision to keep his name out of the Hall by holding one of his most prized possessions for himself.
In the latest episode of "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce," which is presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, the older of the two brothers revealed that after his iconic speech at the Eagles 2017 Super Bowl parade, the Hall of Fame wanted his Mummers-inspired outfit. Kelce declined.
"I could have been in the Hall of Fame," Kelce said. "I told them ‘no.’ They wanted my jacket from the Mummers Parade that I wore for the speech. They can’t f**** have that. That’s mine. Why would I give that to a bunch of people in Canton. No, you don’t get that. They’re not having the real thing, that’s sitting in a trash bag in my basement."
In case you forgot, Kelce's Super Bowl parade speech is one of the most memorable ones that we've ever seen:
While the Eagles were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, perhaps the five-time All-Pro is holding out hope that before the end of his career, he'll have another chance to use his Mummers costume. Regardless, it's safe to say he won't be changing his mind on giving it up anytime soon.
"I let enough people borrow things in third grade to know that you don’t let somebody borrow something that you’re not willing to give up," he said.
