Eagles’ Nick Sirianni Admits Mistake vs. Vikings: ‘I’ll Be Better’
PHILADELPHIA – It’s not exactly pouring on the Philadelphia Eagles at the moment. Not at 2-0. But it is raining, if just a bit.
The passing game needs tinkering.
The pass defense needs refining.
Even head coach Nick Sirianni admitted to a mistake in the Eagles’ 34-28 win over the Minnesota Vikings last week.
D’Andre Swift’s two-yard touchdown run with 4:13 to play in the Week 2 game gave the Eagles a 33-21 lead. Sirianni sent Jake Elliott out for the PAT rather than try to go up two touchdowns.
“As I looked at that, I should have,” Sirianni said. “I should have gone for two there. I didn't do a good enough job there. I didn't go through my process of what I do in that one. That's before any drive in the fourth quarter, before the drive even starts, to have that conversation, ‘Hey, this is a two-point conversion opportunity or this is not.’
“Again, just missed a step in my process. I'll be better at that, so mistake on my part.”
Instead of making the Vikings score two touchdowns and convert two PATs should the Eagles have successfully made a two-point conversion, Sirianni allowed Minnesota an opportunity to potentially win the game after it scored a touchdown with 1:10 to play to pull within six.

Minnesota’s onside kick failed and the Eagles ran out the clock.
“We're all growing at this particular time, regardless,” Sirianni said. “So, would we love for us to be playing our best football right now? Yes. But that's unrealistic and that always starts with me. It's always going to start with me, so error on my decision there.”
The Eagles will return to practice on Wednesday to prepare for a Week 3 matchup against the undefeated Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
The Eagles have lost four straight to the Bucs. Their last win came in 2013 when Nick Foles threw for three touchdown passes in a 31-20 win.
