When the Philadelphia Eagles took down the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17 to close out Week 11, it was the most-viewed Monday Night Football Broadcast since 1996. 

Over 29 million people tuned into the game on Monday night across ESPN, ABC, ESPN2, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes. It was also the most-watched game of the 2023 NFL season so far.

The two teams were playing in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII from last season, which saw the Chiefs take down the Eagles 38-35 on a game-winning field goal from kicker Harrison Butker in arguably one of the greatest Super Bowl's of the modern era.

It was the highest-viewed MNF broadcast since the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys had 31.5 million viewers in 1996. ESPN took over the Monday Night Football broadcast in 2006. In Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets set the record for most-watched MNF broadcast in ESPN history at 22 million. 

Week 11's broadcast from Kansas City blew Week 1 out of the water, setting the new record for the ESPN-era of Monday Night Football. 

Two weeks earlier, Philadelphia had another game in the top three most-watched this season at 27 million viewers when it beat Dallas at home, 28-23.

The Eagles and star quarterback Jalen Hurts have been driving a lot of the conversation around the NFL over the last two seasons, something that usually happens when a player is as successful as he is. Through the 2022 season and now 11 weeks of the 2023 season, Hurts has gone 23-2 as the starting quarterback for Philadelphia.  

The Eagles will host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday in another marquee matchup.
