Jets WR Denzel Mims Cut Coming; Falcons Trade or Sign?

The Atlanta Falcons could add another veteran receiver in New York Jets wideout Denzel Mims.
In this story:

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims is entering his fourth NFL season, but he is looking for a new home.

Our colleague Mike Fisher is reporting that the Jets have called the Dallas Cowboys to try and trade him for a conditional seventh-round pick, but if a deal isn't struck, New York will waive the former Baylor Bears wideout.

If he heads to waivers, could the Atlanta Falcons pick him up?

Mims has just 42 receptions for 676 yards in his first three seasons. But perhaps a change of scenery would turn things around for Mims' career, and maybe the Falcons could oblige.

Last season Atlanta had the second-fewest passing yards of any offense in the NFL, only throwing for 2,927 passing yards. However, the team could have a more balanced offense now that second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder is more familiar with the Falcons’ playbook. Of course, passing will be a lot easier if they sign more receiving talent.

The Falcons have Drake London atop the depth chart in a solidified No. 1 role, but there isn't much certainty after that as Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller are projected to be the other two starting receivers.

Mims wouldn't be guaranteed a starting spot, but joining the Falcons would certainly put pressure on the other receivers to perform, ensuring that Atlanta is getting the most it can out of the position.
