Giants vs Commanders: How to Watch, Odds, History and More
The New York Giants are coming off of a tough loss last week to the Bills but are in hopes of starting to turn their season around this week against the division rival Commanders, without multiple offensive starters that included Daniel Jones, Andrew Thomas, and John Michael Schmitz, the Giants offense had to work with what they had against one of the top defensive units in the league.
Tyrod Taylor stepped in, going 24/36 for 200 yards. Saquon Barkley returned to carry the ball 24 times for 93 yards. Darius Slayton (69 yards) and Wan’Dale Robinson (62 yards) were the top two leaders in receiving.
The Giants offense still couldn’t punch it into the endzone, failing to do so since Week 3. They had two chances at the one-yard line last week and couldn’t capitalize. The play before the end of the half looked like a bad decision on Taylor, who seemingly checked into a run play in which Barkley was stuffed and time ran out.
Bold Giants Predictions for Giants' Week 7 Game vs. Washington
In the game's last play, Taylor lobbed a pass to Darren Waller, who was held, but the officials didn’t call it. The Giants lost the game by just five points, but they could’ve come out of Buffalo with a win if they at least scored one touchdown.
The Giants defense, however, is on a different trajectory. They've accumulated five turnovers in two games after not forcing one from Weeks 1-4. Linebacker Bobby Okereke is starting to look like a dominant force in the middle of the defense.
Okereke had 11 tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass deflections, and a forced fumble. His forced fumble and one of his tipped passes landed in the hands of his running mate, Micah McFadden, who is also starting to look better as the weeks continue. The Giants defense held the Bills offense scoreless through three quarters and only surrendered 14 points overall. Not a bad showing.
This week, the Giants host the Commanders and hope to win a game for the first time in over a calendar month. The Commanders are 3-3 but have a struggling offensive line and a defense allowing 377 yards and almost 30 points per game. If the Giants want to get back into the win column, it starts on Sunday in a big divisional game.
