There doesn't seem to be any inclination of a potential "sophomore slump" for New York Jets' receiver Garrett Wilson.

In fact, the pundits are predicting the opposite for the Jets' top pass-catcher. Whether fantasy-focused or film junkies, analysts of all types are expecting a sophomore surge for Wilson, who was selected tenth overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

SI Fantasy's Michael Fabiano has Wilson listed as WR10 in his latest NFL positional player rankings for leagues that employ a standard PPR scoring format.

NFL Media's Adam Rank boldly ranked the second-year Jet as the No. 5 overall fantasy receiver for 2023.

Longtime football media personality Adam Schein, who hosts a SiriusXM Radio show, slotted Wilson at No. 3 on a list of "stocks to buy" for the upcoming season.

Jets' free-agent signee Mecole Hardman is a believer in Wilson's ability, too.

“They got a great second-year player in Garrett Wilson who had an absolutely unbelievable year. Guys of those names, just to play alongside them is attractive," said Hardman, who signed a one-year deal with Gang Green in March.

Naturally, Wilson is also attracting attention on the betting market.

With a wide array of sportsbooks now offering individual player stat totals, the Jets' WR1 is gaining popularity as an "OVER" candidate in the receiving yards category.

If he is indeed on an upward trajectory, Wilson will presumedly top the numbers he posted in 2022.

After totaling 83 receptions for 1,103 yards as a rookie, Wilson's 2023 season receiving total prop currently stands at 1,150.5 yards.

SI Betting analyst Jennifer Piacenti is targeting that total for an OVER wager.

As part of the Jets' installment in Sports Illustrated's "32 Teams in 32 Days," Piacenti featured Wilson's receiving yards future as a "best bet."

From "32 Teams in 32 Days: The Jets Are Finally Legit With Aaron Rodgers":

Best bet: Take the over on Garrett Wilson’s 1150.5 receiving yards

The reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year nearly eclipsed this mark with some combination of Zach Wilson, Mike White and Joe Flacco under center. Now he has a four-time MVP throwing him the ball. Wilson should not see a sophomore slump.

Many of the projections are founded on the idea that Wilson performed at a high level in 2022 despite the team's messy quarterback situation. He is only the fifth Jet since the turn of the millennium to reach the 1,100-yard mark in a season.

The NFL's top offensive rookie performer now catch passes from future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Brandon Marshall's single-season record (1,502) seems attainable if all goes right.

As a result of better ball placement and more precisely-timed throws from an MVP-caliber field general, Wilson's 56.5 percent catch rate should increase.

Also, Rodgers will likely target Wilson more than the 147 balls that went his way last year. In 2021, when Davante Adams was a teammate, the veteran quarterback threw 169 passes to his top target in 16 games.
