There may be a heavy workload in Dalvin Cook's near future.

For the second day in a row, New York Jets' starting running back Breece Hall did not participate in practice due to injury. The team's RB1 was seen working on a side field during the media-viewing portion of Thursday's practice in Florham Park.

The 22-year-old Hall initially landed on the official injury report last week with a hamstring issue. Despite carrying a questionable status, the second-year pro played 46 of 68 offensive snaps in a 13-8 home loss to Atlanta on December 3. On Wednesday, he popped up with an ankle injury

In a brief interaction with reporters in a locker room scrum Thursday, Hall suggested that he'll be good to go come Sunday.

"Fine," said Hall to the question of "how's the ankle?"

In a follow-up, Hall was asked, "No problem with playing Sunday?"

"Nah," said Hall.

Mirroring the Jets' offense as a whole, the run game has been sluggish of late. Hall, who has gone six games in a row without a touchdown on the ground, has finished under the 40-yard rushing mark in eight of 12 games this season. As a team, New York ranks 29th in rush yards per game (90.8).

Cook got out to slow start to his Jets' tenure, but the 28-year-old veteran has shown some burst in recent weeks. The four-time Pro Bowler gained 46 yards from scrimmage on 10 touches against Atlanta in Week 13.

Thus far this season, both running backs have been available for all 12 games thus far this season. Hall has been on the field for 57 percent of offensive snaps while Cook has participated 23 percent of the time.
