The New York Jets' fans have spoken.

They want Dalvin Cook.

Those in attendance at Sunday's open practice in Florham Park greeted the free-agent running back as if he were already wearing Green & White. The crowd of ticketed spectators serenaded the four-time Pro Bowler as he stepped into view while making an official free-agent visit.

Cook, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings on June 9, was touring the Jets' team facility and made a stop at the practice field where he was seen chatting with owner Woody Johnson.

"Call it a meet and greet," said head coach Robet Saleh following practice. "I don't know about recruiting. I think it's more just get a feel and make the best decision for your family."

Saleh mentioned that he has "no expectation" for when Cook will reach a conclusion.

Upon Cook's arrival, the Jets fans started a "Dal-vin Coo-ook" chant in the stands.

The native Floridian acknowledged the warm welcome through a post on the social media site formerly known as Twitter. Cook quote-tweeted a video clip of the cheering and added a green heart emoji to the post.

Cook has exceeded the 1,100-yard rushing mark each of the past four seasons. Analysts have expressed concern over the fact that the 28-year old running back accounted for the lowest yards per carry single-season average (4.4) of his career in 2022.

Jets' starting running back Breece Hall remains on the PUP list as he works his way back from ACL surgery. The second-year pro has previously turned to social media to express apparent displeasure when the team has been linked to multiple available free agents.

Meanwhile, third-year ball carrier Michael Carter, sophomore Zonovan "Bam" Knight and fifth-round rookie Israel Abanikanda are battling for reps behind Hall.

"Love the running back room," said Saleh. "There is some competition already between Izzy, Michael and Bam to try to get the 2 and 3 spots, if you will."
