Former NFL Quarterback Calls Jets 'Unquestioned Super Bowl Contenders'
Dan Orlovsky is buying stock in the New York Jets.
The former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst made a bold statement about Gang Green during a Friday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Mentioning the team that Joe Douglas built in the same class as the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills, Orlovsky declared Aaron Rodgers and the Jets as contenders for the Lombardi Trophy.
"The Bills and the Jets are unquestioned Super Bowl contenders," said Orlovsky. "The quarterback talent that they have, the skill talent that they have, the defense that both have."
Orlovsky, an ESPN analyst, was not willing to endorse the Miami Dolphins at this point in time though.
"I think the Dolphins are knocking on that door. The question that everyone talks about is we gotta have Tua [Tagovailoa] healthy for the year. As much as I love Tua, it hasn't happened," said Orlovsky.
On ESPN's Get Up last month, Orlovsky mentioned the Jets and the Bills as the key AFC threats to defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City.
"There's two teams that are the most equipped to beat Kansas City because that's what the season is about. One is Buffalo. everyone keeps sleeping on Buffalo. And then two are the New York Jets. Those are one, two to go knock off Kansas City and get to the Super Bowl," said Orlovsky.
"I think this is the best defense Aaron's ever played with. And he played with one really, really good defense in Green Bay, in like 2010, I think, they won the Super Bowl," said Orlovsky on Get Up. "Energized, offended and talented — this is a team that can absolutely beat the Kansas City Chiefs."

The Jets return all key pieces from a 2022 defense that ranked fourth out of 32 teams in the NFL. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner are viewed as franchise players following All-Pro selections last year.
Gang Green will host a head-to-head meeting with Patrick Mahomes's Chiefs in Week 4 this season. That mouth-watering matchup is part of a demanding season-opening six-game stretch that kicks off with a Monday Night Football appearance against the Bills on September 11.
The Jets and Bills split the 2022 season series with Gang Green holding Josh Allen's high-octane offense well below its season scoring average.
