Jets Double Headline Schein's Top-Nine Primetime Affairs

Two of Gang Green's first-four games earn must-see status

The addition of future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has elevated the New York Jets to heights the franchise hasn't sniffed in more than a decade.

Gang Green occupies six standalone featured slots on the 2023 National Football League regular season schedule as a result of bringing a four-time NFL MVP into the mega media market that is the New York metropolitan area.

Adam Schein, an NFL television/radio show host, identified the "Top 9 prime-time games" for NFL.com and the Jets took the first two spots on the loaded list.

The Jets' two early-season primetime matchups headline the League's schedule according to Schein. Gang Green's return to Sunday Night Football ranks No. 2 overall while the Monday Night Football season opener owns top billing. Both matchups pit Rodgers against elite signal callers.

Set to play on NBC's SNF for the first time since 2011, the Jets will host two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Super Bowl LVII champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 (Oct. 1). The League's weekly Sunday night game has been known to consistently draw the highest ratings of television shows across all genres.

Prior to facing the defending world champs, Gang Green will host AFC juggernaut Buffalo in Aaron Rodgers' New York debut on Monday, September 11. It'll be the 39-year old Rodgers against the 27-year old Josh Allen under the lights at MetLife Stadium on the 22nd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

From "2023 NFL schedule release: Top 9 prime-time games":

2 - Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets

Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 1 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC

Yes, we've reached the Aaron Rodgers portion of this list. Regular readers of the Schein Nine should not be surprised. But seriously, though, this is quite the storyline, no? The most talented quarterback in NFL history going to one of the most quarterback-starved franchises in football. ....

1 - Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

Week 1: Monday, Sept. 11 at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC

I can't get over how perfect this is. Aaron Rodgers' official Jets debut ... at home in the New York area on 9/11 ... as the isolated Week 1 finale on Monday night ... in a divisional bout against the three-time reigning AFC East champions. This is a Hollywood script.

Rodgers vs. Josh Allen? Buckle up, Buttercup! These are two of the four best teams in the power-loaded AFC. Two star quarterbacks. Two great defenses. Fantastic playmakers across the board. Pinch me! ....

- Adam Schein

The 2023 Jets have received the maximum allotment of standalone featured matchups, including the first-ever NFL Black Friday game. Gang Green will play before an SNF audience twice (Weeks 4, 10) and also make two MNF appearances (Weeks 1, 9). Thursday Night Football on Prime Video gets the Jets at the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. (Full Jets' Schedule)
